The National Institute of Design (NID) is an autonomous design institute in India offering B.Des., M.Des., and PhD programs across disciplines such as Communication, Industrial, Textile, and Interdisciplinary Design. Admission is conducted through the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), which includes Prelims and Mains stages to assess creativity, problem-solving, and visualisation skills. NID has limited seats and a highly competitive selection process, with a low acceptance rate each year.The exam focuses more on creative thinking and practical ability rather than academic knowledge, making consistent practice and skill development essential. Candidates should also be aware that the Studio Test and interview play a crucial role in final selection, not just the written exam.

Important: For B.Des., NID's 2027–28 handbook describes the process as DAT Prelims → DAT Mains → separate admission application → seat allotment/admission counselling. Counselling / Final Admission: June 2027 (Tentative) because NID has not officially announced it.
For M.Des., the official handbook likewise lists the DAT Mains admit card, DAT Mains, DAT Mains result, re-totalling and admission counselling as "To be announced later."
The NID entrance examination is conducted in two stages: the Preliminary Examination (DAT Prelims) and the Mains Examination (DAT Mains). A clear understanding of the exam pattern is essential for effective preparation.

The NID Results 2026‑27 (DAT 2026) are declared online only. The scorecard is valid for the current admission cycle only. Candidates must log in to the official NID admissions website (admissions.nid.edu) using their registered credentials to check their result. The scorecard includes all relevant details, including the candidate's qualifying status and marks.
